Privacy Policy

Last updated August 22, 2026

GenuSort ("the app", "we", "us") is a small, independently-run tool for sorting LEGO parts. This policy explains what data GenuSort collects, why, and how it's used.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. This is used only to identify you within the app and to control who's allowed to sign in.
  • Sorting data. The sets you've added, your sorting progress, found parts, and storage tags. This is stored in your browser (localStorage) on your own device by default.
  • Google Drive backups. If you use the Data page's backup feature, GenuSort requests access to Google Drive's hidden "app data" folder (scope drive.appdata) to store a backup of your sorting data. This folder is private to GenuSort and isn't visible in your normal Google Drive — GenuSort cannot see, read, or modify any other file in your Drive. You can create, restore, or delete these backups any time from the Data page, and you can revoke this access entirely at any time from your Google Account permissions.
  • Missing/Found parts sync. If you use the phone-sync feature, your missing/found parts lists are temporarily stored on our server (to move data between your devices) until you next sync or overwrite them.

How we use your information

Solely to provide GenuSort's features: signing you in, syncing your missing/found parts lists between your devices, and backing up and restoring your sorting data via Google Drive. We don't use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to running the app, and GenuSort contains no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

GenuSort's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sharing your information

We don't sell your data or share it with third parties, other than the infrastructure providers that host the app (Vercel), the catalog database, and the sync store — all of which only process data on our behalf to run the app, and none of which have any independent use for it.

Data retention and deletion

Sorting data stored locally in your browser stays there until you clear it yourself. Drive backups persist until you delete them from the Data page or revoke GenuSort's Drive access. Synced missing/found lists are overwritten on each sync. To ask for any other data we hold about you to be deleted, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

GenuSort is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
